University Research: University Research Services and Administration (URSA) has oversight and managerial responsibilities for Georgia State University’s research enterprise. It provides high quality, reliable and responsive oversight and management of all sponsored programs, research compliance and safety, export control regulations, technology commercialization and internal funding opportunities.
Social Science Research Foundation: The Social Science Research Council leads innovation, builds interdisciplinary and international networks, and focuses research on important public issues. Independent and not-for-profit, the SSRC is guided by the belief that justice, prosperity, and democracy all require better understanding of complex social, cultural, economic, and political processes.
American Association of University Women: The American Association of University Women Educational Foundation has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe. One of the world’s largest sources of funding for graduate women, the Educational Foundation provided more than 250 fellowships, grants, and special awards to outstanding women in the academic year.
American Museum of Natural History: The American Museum of Natural History offers competitive grants and fellowships in areas broadly related to its scientific and educational objectives. These areas include the fields of vertebrate zoology, invertebrate zoology, paleozoology, anthropology, astrophysics and earth and planetary sciences. This site describes the programs that provide the support, and gives instructions to individuals who wish to apply.
EarthWatch Institute: Earthwatch supports research projects that address the world’s pressing environmental issues. Earthwatch particularly seeks to fund research that investigates the following four target priority areas: sustainable management of natural resources, climate change, oceans, and sustainable cultures.
L.S.B. Leakey Foundation: The Leakey Foundation site provides information on general and special research grants involving environments, archeology, and human paleontology of the Miocene, Pliocene, and Pleistocene; into the behavior, morphology, and ecology of the great apes and other primate species; and into the behavioral ecology of contemporary hunter gatherers. Advanced doctoral students as well as established scientists, are eligible for general research grants. Undergraduate college students are not eligible.
National Science Foundation: The National Science Foundation promotes and advances scientific progress in the United States by competitively awarding grants and cooperative agreements for research and education in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering.
Smithsonian Institution Department of Anthropology: The Office of Fellowships and Grants manages and administers the Institution’s programs for research grants, fellowships, internships, and other visiting academic appointments. Fellowships are offered for pre- and post-doctoral study and research in residence at the Smithsonian for not less than six nor more than twelve months. Graduate student fellowships are available for ten-week periods under the guidance of Smithsonian staff members.
The Wenner-Gren Foundation: The Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, Inc. is a private operating Foundation that is dedicated to the advancement of anthropology throughout the world. Through programs of funding for research projects, conferences, symposia, fellowships, and publication, the Foundation aids basic research in all branches of anthropology and closely related disciplines concerned with human origins, development and variation.
