EXPLORING THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE
Our students are trained for careers in public service, in professions from public health to marketing, museums to refugee resettlement and in the academy.
Making a Difference
Welcome to the Department of Anthropology. This is a vibrant space for intellectual collaboration in the heart of downtown Atlanta.
Our 13 faculty members teach and conduct research across the subdisciplines of anthropology: sociocultural, biological, archaeological and linguistics. Our collective interests are broad, but we find common ground around themes, including material culture and museum studies, urban and applied anthropology, medical anthropology and forensics, food anthropology and biocultural approaches to race.
If you have questions about our programs after exploring this website, please contact our faculty or staff by email or phone, or – as COVID-19 protocols allow – to arrange a visit.
Why Study Anthropology?
Anthropologists are uniquely well situated to contribute informed, critically astute perspectives on some of the most pressing matters of our day, including debates about race, class, indigeneity, gender and sexuality, and all forms of social inequity. The discipline encompasses archaeology, biological anthropology, sociocultural anthropology and linguistic anthropology.
